According to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education, New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) is once again one of the best colleges in the nation to work for.
The results, released today in The Chronicle’s annual report on The Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of 281 colleges and universities. Only 93 achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies. The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
New York Chiropractic College has participated in the Great Colleges program for eight consecutive years and has been honored each time. This year NYCC was recognized in ten of the twelve categories evaluated including Job Satisfaction; Collaborative Governance; Work-Life Balance; Teaching Environment; Compensation and Benefits; Confidence in Senior Leadership; Facilities, Workspace, and Security; Professional/Career Development Programs; Respect and Appreciation; and Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship.
Institutions found to be particularly outstanding are further recognized as “Honor Roll” schools. NYCC has achieved this coveted status for seven consecutive years, making it a stand-out institution in its category of small four-year schools.
“I am particularly gratified by this recognition because it comes from our employees. It would be impossible for us to achieve our mission of academic excellence, quality patient care, and professional leadership without the dedication of our faculty and staff. Our culture values them and their contributions to our students. Our success as a leading institution for the education of natural healthcare professionals and academicians rests on their shoulders,” said NYCC President, Dr. Frank J. Nicchi.
The Chronicle is the nation’s most important source of news about colleges and universities.
“Nine years in, The Chronicle’s Great Colleges to Work For program is well known as a mark of a college or university that puts thought and effort into serving the needs of its faculty and staff,” said Liz McMillen, The Chronicle’s editor.
Great Colleges to Work For is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country. For more information and to view all the results of the survey, visit The Chronicle’s Web site at http://chronicle.com/AW15.
