Long-time Yo San University supporter Thomas S. Blount recently gave a $1 million dollar gift to the University, it's largest charitable gift to date. Mr. Blount was a retired naval officer, aerospace consultant and philanthropist. He was also a strong supporter of the Yo San's efforts to provide quality instruction to students while serving the community through its community clinic with an integrative health care model and services.

"The extent of Thomas' support has been greater than many knew through the years," said University President Louis Green. "However, this gift is a truly transformational moment for our university. It will allow us to build on our established legacy, continue educational excellence in the classroom, enhance our already distinctive clinical offerings, and respond to the rapidly changing landscape of our profession.

As the only non-profit acupuncture school in Los Angeles, our mission and approach is special and this gift further underscores our unique values, commitment to our students and responsibility as a health care provider to the broader community."

Yo San's University Community Clinic and its externship site partners have provided more than 255,000 free or subsidized acupuncture and TCM treatments to underserved communities in Los Angeles since 2000.
