Offering a seaside oasis of relaxation right before the busy holiday season, the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine will be hosting its 19th annual Pacific Symposium 2007, Nov. 8-11, at the Catamaran Resort, located at Mission Bay in San Diego.
Among the scheduled speakers are Acupuncture Today columnists Felice Dunas, PhD, delivering the keynote speech on the topic of "The Role of TCM in Corporate Wellness Programs," and contributor Honora Lee Wolfe, Dipl. Ac., speaking on "Treating Patients Who are Taking Western Medicine with Chinese Herbs" and "Making the Most of Your Herbal Dispensary." Other scheduled presentations include "Treating Syndromes Associated with Obesity" by Kiko Matsumoto, "Danger Signs: Red Flags in TCM Practice" by Bruce Robinson," and "Advanced Needling for the Athletic Weekend Warrior," by Mark Kastner. The two special post-symposium workshops are "Common Injuries to the Back and Hip" with Matt Callison and "Toyohari as a Way of Developing Skills" with Michio Murakami and Haruhiro Kasumi. For the early risers, there also will be morning Shen Gong exercise classes taught by Bill Helm, and after-lunch sessions taught by Justin Ehrlich.
Other special events scheduled as of press time include a party on the evening of Nov. 9 and an open house on Nov. 10 from noon to 3 pm, hosted by PCOM. The open house will provide an opportunity for prospective students to meet attendees, speakers, current students and exhibitors.
Just as in previous years, the exhibit hall will feature a wide variety of products, services and organizations, including silver sponsors Kan Herb Company and Helio Medical Supplies.
Registration costs for the 2007 Pacific Symposium are $495 for professionals and $320 for students. The symposium plus the two post-symposium workshops is $695 for professionals and $490 for students. The cost for attending just the post-symposium workshops is $275 for professionals and $215 for students.
